Lisa's Couple 'O Things

As pointed out by my rabbit nephew Zinger my blog should be called Couple of things. Time flies when you're taking care of kids. My not-related niece, CaliLyn, has been here several weekends in a row. We've had a great time, but Auntie Lisa gets wiped out after all night Friday and all day Saturday. Sitting at the computer is the last thing I tend to want to do. Right now, CaliLyn is drawing on my white board while I placed a vitamin order online. I thought I'd stop by my sis' post and look to see if there was something I should add to mine. After the admonishment from Zinger, I had to write something!

Scully got a bath today. You can't tell how good she smells from a picture, but trust me. CaliLyn guarded the bathroom door so Scully couldn't excape while I was drying her off. Turn down your volume a bit. I whistle at the beginning to get Scully interested. It's a little loud.

Cell camera quality, but 'til I can afford more it'll have to do.

Have a blessed Christmas!

Every 18 Seconds

I attended an SCC concert last night. As always, he put on a great show. During this tour he's promoting a foundation called Shohanna's Hope (link to the right). Shohanna is one of the girls he & his wife adopted. Show Hope provides financial support to good couples who are trying to adopt, but don't have the funds.

The title of this post goes to what Steven explained last night: every 18 seconds a child is orphaned somewhere in the world. From the start of the concert at 7:30 until it was over around 10:45 over 600 children were orphaned. While I wasn't considered by many to be an orphan I was in foster care. My parents were still alive which is why people used to say I wasn't an orphan. Ahhh, the misinformed. Foster care is not the answer for kids. Putting them in good, adoptive homes is. Kids need to feel loved and being shuffled from one home to another is not the answer.

Take a few moments to check out Show Hope. If you can't donate, add them to your prayer list. It's worthy cause if ever there was one.

What's a Meme?

While I still don't know the answer to that, it seems that Scully has been tagged. My sisters bunny Archi Ann gave it to Scully & also passed on an award that she was given from Katie & Puddy so, in order to honor that tag it looks like the dog has to answer some questions. If I'm doing it wrong I'm sure you more seasoned bloggers will let me know.

Scully is rolling her eyes at me. I think her thought is: "You said you were gonna make breakfast & sit with me a while." I'm making her answer questions anyway:

YOUR ROCK STAR NAME: (favorite stuffy + tail characteristic)

Ferret No Tail

YOUR GANGSTER NAME: (favorite toy filler + favorite cookie)

Well, there ya have it. If you look at Katie & Puddy's blog you might notice I did leave off one name. It's on ethical grounds. Surprisingly, Scully had fun doing this. (I) she's not usually into this sort of thing. Thanks for the tag Carri Ann!

Hot Time in the Ole Town

As most of you know by now, Southern California has been on fire for a little over a week. In the fires four years ago the evacuations were up to one street over from where I lived at the time. These fires have not effected where I live. However, they have certainly effected my breathing! Here's a shot of the skies the other day once the winds subsided a little.

Those aren't clouds! You can see a bit of the sky. This was only at 5 pm & it doesn't get dark until around 6:30 right now. Fortunately, the Santa Ana's have stopped and in some of the areas the fire fighters are making headway. Pray that the Lord will keep all those who have been displaced by the fires safe. While many have already lost their homes continue to pray for an end to the fires. CNN has actually had good coverage on & off the air about the fires.

Boxer or big Chicken? You be the judge...

Scully jumped into bed last night and stayed the night. The Santa Ana winds were freaking her out. We're getting up to 70mph winds right now. It started Friday and is expected to go until Tuesday. At some point during the night, Scully turned around and left her backside on my pillow as if to say, "I'm tired of this sh**!"

When I got up to get ready for church this morning she followed me into the bathroom. She didn't get in the shower, but then didn't leave my side until I put her outside so I could leave. Then she stared at me with eyes that would break your heart. Ofcourse, she is a boxer so that's really the only look she has anyway.

I thanked her for "protecting me" and told her I'd be okay getting to church and back. I had to build her up before leaving her alone.

Rainy Night

It's a rainy night here & should be a rainy weekend. That will keep me home reading books all weekend.

Our quiet little town of Simi Valley saw some scary excitement this week. If you missed it here's a link to local news: http://cbs2.com/topstories/local_story_282120645.html . Ever since I've noticed quite a visible police presence. It happened not far from my house. In fact, the corner where it happened was right next door to where our offices used to be located. We moved across town four years ago. Thank the Lord!

Back Home Again

So, my sis went to our home town recently. She took a bunch of pics so I put them in a little slide show for you to check out. Enjoy! BTW: my class planted the trees at the back of the school when I was in first grade! Yep...I'm old!

It's beautiful back there!

Don't be impressed by the video. It needs some work. My sis is the computer literate one...I just have a Mac that does it all for me!
